김보람 박사는 이화여자대학교 생명과학과를
졸업하고 동대학원에서 석사학위를 받았으며,
초파리 장의 생리작용과 장내 미생물과의 상호작용을 연구하여 서울대학교에서 박사학위를 받았습니다.
박사 학위 과정에서 동물의 신진대사와 섭식 행동을
조절하는 장-뇌축의 기능에 관심을 갖게 되었고,
현재는 초파리에서 섭취한 음식물 영양소를 인지하는 장-뇌축을 연구하고 있습니다.
Boram Kim

Boram Kim received her Bachelor's and Master's degree in Life Sciences at
Ewha Womans University, and her Ph.D. in the Department of Biological Sciences at Seoul National University. During her graduate years, she studied the gut microbiota and intestinal physiology of Drosophila, eventually culminating her
work into a dissertation thesis regarding the Drosophila gut-brain axis involved in controlling host metabolism and feeding behavior. Boram is currently carrying
out postdoctoral studies on the Drosophila gut-brain axis that is involved in
sensing ingested nutrients.
원종훈 박사는 동국대학교 생물학과에서 학사를
취득하고 KAIST 생명 과학과에서 석박사 학위를
받았습니다. 그는 Ph.D 과정 동안 조경옥 교수님의
지도 하에, 초파리에서 세포 밖으로 분비된 Wnt를
절단하는 ADAMTS protease에 대한 연구를 진행
하였고, 졸업 후 박사후 연구원으로서 방사선 조사
조건 하에서 세포 생존에 대한 엑소좀의 역할과
엑소좀으로 분비되는 Wnt 구배의 형성 원리를
연구했습니다. 현재는 서성배 교수님의 실험실에
합류하여 신경 펩타이드의 절단 및 신호 전달
경로를 연구하고 있습니다.
Jong Hoon Won

Jong Hoon Won received his B.S degree in the Department of Biology at
Dongguk University and his Ph.D in the Department of Biological Sciences at KAIST. He carried out Ph.D thesis under the guidance of Prof. Kyung-Ok Cho, studying extracellular Wnt processing by ADAMTS protease in Drosophila.
As a postdoctoral researcher after graduation, he studied the role of exosomes
in cell survival under irradiation conditions and the formation of exosomal Wnt gradients. Jong Hoon joined the Suh lab in 2020 and has been investigating the processing and signal transduction pathway of neuropeptide.
양대욱 박사는 경희대학교 생물학과에서 학사 학위를 받았으며, 카이스트 생명과학과에서 최광욱 교수님의 지도 아래, 초파리 날개 발달에서의 미세소관 음극 보호단백질인 패트로닌과 히포 신호전달체계와의 유전적 관계를 연구하여 박사학위를 받았습니다. 현재는 서성배 교수님의 연구실에서 박사후 연구원으로서 초파리 감각 센서 연구를 하고 있습니다.
Dae Wook Yang

Dae Wook Yang received Bachelor’s degree in Department of Biology,
Kyung Hee University, and Ph.D degree in Department of Biological Sciences, KAIST, under the guidance of Dr. Kwang-Wook choi, through investigating genetic interaction
between Patronin (Microtubule minus end protector) and Hippo pathway in Drosophila wing development. Currently, He joined the Laboratory of Dr. Greg Suh as Post doctoral researcher for investigating Drosophila sensing.
김신혜 박사는 신경생리를 전공한 전기생리학자이며, 에서 도파민 신경세포의 전기적 흥분과 칼슘 신호의 상관관계를 주제로 박사 학위를 취득하고,
건양대학교 의과대학에서 11년간 강의 교수로
재직했습니다. 2021년 10월부터 서성배 교수님의 연구실에 합류하여 CRF 신경세포에 관한 연구를
하고 있습니다.
Shin Hye Kim

Shin Hye Kim is an electrophysiologist majoring in neurophysiology, earned
a doctorate on the correlation between electrical excitation of dopamine neurons and calcium signals, and served as a lecturer at Konyang University Medical School
for 11 years. Since October 2021, she joined the Suh lab and has been conducting research on CRF neurons.
김병수 학생은 2011년 KAIST에 입학하여
생명과학과 학사를 수료하였고, 2015년
KAIST에 석박통합과정으로 입학하여
서성배 교수님 연구실의 일원이 되었습니다.
현재는 초파리 내에서 미량 영양소 감지기와
그 감지 기작을 밝히는 연구를 하고 있습니다.
Byoung Soo Kim

Byoung Soo Kim received his B.S the Department of Biological Sciences
from KAIST, and he joined Dr. Greg Suh’s lab as an integrated master’s &
Ph.D candidate in 2015. He is currently investigating the identities of post-
ingestive micronutrient sensors and their modes of action in Drosophila.
이성주 학생은 고려대학교 생명과학과를
졸업하고 2017년 카이스트에 석박통합과정으로
입학하였습니다. 현재 이자의 내분비세포 활성을
조절하는 포도당 감지 뉴런에 대해 연구하고
있습니다. 질문하는 것을 좋아하고 새로운
시도를 하는 것, 새로운 사람들과 디스커션
하는 것을 즐깁니다.
Seong Ju Lee

Seong Ju Lee finds great pleasure in seeking answers for unanswered questions. She likes to attend conferences, and use logic to breakdown complex natural phenomena into bite-size expression of words. Her curiosity has been the driving force for her to pursue science and attend a Science High School and study Life Sciences at Korea University, where she obtained B.S. degree in 2017. She is currently exploring glucose-sensing neurons that modulate the activity of the endocrine pancreas in mammals.
이진형 학생은 2014년 포항공과대학교
생명과학과에 입학하여 18년도 졸업하였습니다.
이후 가을학기로 카이스트 대학원에 석박통합
과정으로 입학하였습니다. 서성배 교수님 랩에서
초파리에서 식욕을 조절하는 기작들에 대해
연구하고 있으며 초파리가 먹이를 마킹하여
다른 초파리들을 불러들이는 현상에도
관심을 가지고 있습니다.
Jin Hyeong Lee

Jin Hyeong Lee obtained his B.S. in Life Sciences at POSTECH in 2018 and entered the integrated master’s and Ph.D. program at KAIST.
He is currently examining neural mechanisms by which Drosophila inform
their conspecific the presence of nutritive food.
황가영 학생은 2019년 경북대학교 생명공학과에서 이학 학사를 받았습니다. 그리고 2019년 카이스트에 입학하여, 초파리 내부 미량영양소 센서를 찾는데
열중하고 있습니다. 항상 랩에 충실하지만,
랩 밖에서는 운동하며 스트레스를 해소합니다.
Ga Young Hwang

Gayoung Hwang received her B.S. in Biotechnology from Kyungpook National University in 2019. In the Suh lab, she is trying to identify neurons of Drosophila that detect and convey information about the levels of internal micronutrients. Gayoung enjoys sports and physical exercises.

Seo Hyeon Byeon received her Bachelor's and Master's Degrees in Food and Nutrition at Seoul National University, and is currently pursuing her Ph.D. What is consciousness? She asks the big question and hopes to answer through smaller questions that are more accessible. She is interested in how neural mechanism exploits nutrients to maintain homeostasis and believes brain-body communication and interoceptive system are key parts of the mechanism. She is currently working on the role of gut-brain axis in salt intake by mice. She loves listening to others through books, playing violin and double bass, and the sound of string ensemble. She is hoping for enjoyable research full of enlightening discussions.
